      Studies tell us that a majority of organizations have not adopted volunteer management practices that might be helpful in their efforts to attract, serve and retain volunteers. How Ready is Your Organization for Volunteer Engagement? is an interactive 2 1/2 hour professional development course for organization leadership and volunteer administrators at all levels. Participants will learn the key components of a quality volunteer program and evaluate the readiness of their organization to successfully engage volunteers.  A benchmarking assessment tools will help participants identify their current strengths and opportunities.  They will then set priorities and identify next steps appropriate to their specific organizational needs. The course is ideal for anyone who wants to start or improve their volunteer engagement program, whether you are new to the field or a seasoned professional in need of a refresher in best practices.  The target audience includes volunteer managers, executive directors, and board members. Participation in this training will lead to: An increased appreciation of the importance of being properly prepared for volunteers A better understanding of the key elements of preparation for effective volunteer engagement An assessment of the agency's current readiness compared to industry benchmarks An agency specific action plan to enhance readiness for effective volunteer engagement A more successful engagement process for increased satisfaction from volunteers, staff and clients Facilitator:  Karen Reid, MA, CVA As founder and principal of Kaber Communications, Karen draws on her extensive expertise to help organizations cultivate dynamic engagement programs so they can provide meaningful, relevant volunteer opportunities. An accomplished trainer and speaker, Karen is Certified in Volunteer Administration and has overseen successful volunteer programs throughout the U.S. She holds an MA in Journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Karen currently sits on the International Association of Business Communicators Foundation Committee and is Communications Chair for the Texas Volunteer Management Conference.
