100% of Net Proceeds go to "The Patterson Family"

      Service, Before Self.

Since May 3rd, Jeff has spent 107 days in the Burn ICU with third degree burns over 45% of his body; his back, arms, hands and waist were the most severe.  Since the fire, Jeff has undergone twelve surgeries for skin grafting, to remove a bacterial infection, and to repair his broken body.  For a majority of his stay, Jeff was immobilized and in an induced coma.  He lost more than 50 pounds and much of his strength being bedridden for that long.  He has had to learn to breath, drink, and eat again in the ICU.

On May 3, 2014, Tina Patterson was visiting a neighbor’s house with her kids when the Fire Departments Deputy Chief parked and approached her house.  She ran over concerned because her husband told her about these house calls.  They needed her to come with them immediately to Parkland.  Her husband, Jeff Patterson, a Dallas Firefighter and father to their six-year-old son and two-year-old daughter, was severely injured fighting a residential fire.  An attic collapsed suddenly, pushing fire all around Jeff, he was in the middle of a fully involved fire of temperatures up to 800-1000 degrees.  Somehow, he managed to crawl along the floor and alert his fellow firefighters by tapping on a window.  They pulled the 6’2, 240-pound firefighter through the window.

      Rehab, Before Home.

Jeff is currently living in a special rehab facility in Dallas, and is doing better; the feeding tube has been removed and Jeff can now walk 300 feet before tiring.  Last week he began to feed himself and do the normal activities that we take for granted. He is determined to get home to his family as soon as he can, but still every day is a struggle and every movement is painful.

      Jeff, Before Self.

I have known Jeff for over 15 years, and I would do anything for him and his family. I cannot imagine what they are going through, but I want to help.

      Donations, Before Health

What can you do? Donate to my fundraiser “Jeff Before Self” – again, all proceeds will go directly to the Patterson Family and will be used to offset the medical and rehabilitation expenses of Jeff and Tina.  I am not asking for much.  If all of our friends come together, we can each donate $20 and help Tina and Jeff get home!

Want to do more? Donate and Like/Share this post. Every donation counts.  $20 goes along way.

Want to do even more? Register for the race (10K or half marathon), direct people to the GoFundMe site, and start your own fundraising effort.
