Newcomer Friends of Greater Plano April Meeting - “Route 66: The Road that RUNS Through Everyone’s Life”

Come and join us for our April program. All women in the North Texas area, whether new to the area or established residents, are invited.
This month’s speaker, Susan Croce Kelly, will discuss the iconic Route 66. Our speaker will tell us charming stories about the people and places along Route 66.
Ms. Kelly has spent much of her life living near Route 66. She grew up hearing stories about “the most famous highway in the world” and became intrigued with Route 66. She became the prize-winning author of two seminal histories of the old highway. Route 66: The Highway and Its People, was the first social history of the highway and the businesses that grew up alongside. That book has become a classic resource for anyone interested in the Why’s and How’s of US 66. Her second book, a 2014 biography of Cyrus Avery, zeroed in on the life and times of the Oklahoma road builder who became known as the Father of Route 66.
